How TLC Works
How does TLC Work?
TLC operates as a close knit family. Out residents share a number of responsibilities, but more importantly they provide emotional support, love and encouragement to each other. This caring attitude fosters inward strength so that after leaving a TLC residence, you are mentally and physically able to handle the inevitable stresses of everyday living without drugs and alcohol.
Is TLC the same as a recovery home or halfway house?
No. Therapy, treatment and formal counseling are not a part of our routine. Our approach succeeds because we encourage you to assume responsibility for yourself and for the family group. We create a wholesome and loving environment with minimal structure through sharing and self-discipline. We adhere to house standards because to violate them hurts our common goal: maintaining a supportive "family".
When do I enter TLC?
Ideally you reserve a space in one of our Sober Living Environments while you are in treatment. You would enroll in TLC during your final days and transfer immediately after discharge. We require that our residents either have completed a primary treatment program and be part of aftercare, or be currently involved in an outpatient treatment program.
TLC is appropriate if you are serious about recovery, know what you need to do, and are looking for a safe, nurturing environment to focus on developing a foundation of permanent sobriety.
What is the cost?
Currently the costs range from $600 to $1,500 monthly depending on the location and amenities of the home. All utilities are included, including; Internet (wireless), phone, High Definition Cable (most locations), house computer & fully stocked kitchen for meal preparation and dining. Additionally we provide free on-site laundry and detergent.
We accept all major credit cards as well as "Check by Phone".
What are the entry requirements?
- A serious commitment to recovery
- A sincere desire to become an active, supportive member of the family
- Willingness to honor the TLC Standards
- Ability to pay the nominal residential fee
- Minimum 30-day commitment
- 18 years or older
- 24 hours clean & sober
What do I bring?
You are responsible for meals, bedding and towels. Minimal personal belongings.
Can residents work?
Certainly! In fact, outside employment or school is encouraged. If not working we encourage volunteering to stay busy.
Who manages the homes?
Each home is managed by a House Manager and an assistant, both long-term TLC residents with managerial capability and demonstrated recovery. They report to a district manager who oversees several Sober Living Environments.
What about relapse?
If a resident uses drugs or alcohol, he or she is immediately discharged. Reinstatement is only possible after demonstrated proof of sobriety for a 24 hour period and payment of a $250.00 Re-Admit fee. Repeated relapses may require further treatment.
Are visitors allowed?
Absolutely! These are family style homes; visitors are part of the family circle and are welcome as long as they are clean and sober and honor the family spirit.
